Backstories R Us

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I posted this meme the other day, in which I invited people to name a character from an array of fandoms (Harry Potter, Pet Shop of Horrors, House, Jeeves & Wooster or any of the Star Treks except for Enterprise), and in return, I would supply some backstory or a take on how I see/interpret the character. I posted it as a bit of fun, but it's actually proved to be a very good writing exercise for me, so I thought I'd gather the responses here (cleaned up a little) for those who haven't seen them.

TGI...M? And a Jooster Rec you must read.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I never thought I'd actually say this, but thank God the weekend's over. I'm actually happy to see Monday morning for once, because that was... not the most fun I've had on a weekend; let's just say that. Between Dad's problems and my insomnia and the horrible headaches I was having (the kind that radiate down into your neck and shoulders and make you feel as though a boa constrictor is squeezing your brains), it was not a restful time.

The good news: Dad finally passed the stone yesterday, and he's now at home, resting. Or at least he's supposed to be resting; he's so damned glad to be feeling good that he's already called me to report that he's done the vacuuming without any pain. (If only my mother could get him to always be so enthusiastic about the chores.) He's been warned by his doctor to be alert for signs of further stones (once you have them once, you're more likely to have them again), and he's been warned by me and my mother that if he ever again ignores mysterious pain for more than a day before mentioning it, he won't have to worry about whether or not it's fatal, because we'll kill him. ;-)

Anyway, thanks again to all of you for the support. I can't tell you what it meant to me to see your messages when I checked in, and Dad was touched when I told him that my online friends were pulling for him as well. (He knows that I blog; he just doesn't know quite what I write about. Which is probably fortunate for all of us.) Once again, I marvel at the greatness of the flist!

I spent last night unwinding and trying to get some ideas from my poor muddled brain to the page. Strangely, with all the sitting and waiting and not-really-sleeping, it was a fruitful weekend for ideas, so I hope that will translate into some productive writing when I have the time. I was also cheered and enthralled last night by the wonderful Jeeves/Wooster story [info]keladry_lupin recommended last week, and I finally had a chance to read: The Long Road, by [info]tridenture. THANK YOU for the rec, Kel! I adored it, and it was the perfect distraction. Highly recced to anybody on the flist who has even a passing interest in Jeeves and Bertie.

Right. I need to get some things in order, and then I'm off. Good Mondays are wished to all of you!
