Backstories R Us

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I posted this meme the other day, in which I invited people to name a character from an array of fandoms (Harry Potter, Pet Shop of Horrors, House, Jeeves & Wooster or any of the Star Treks except for Enterprise), and in return, I would supply some backstory or a take on how I see/interpret the character. I posted it as a bit of fun, but it's actually proved to be a very good writing exercise for me, so I thought I'd gather the responses here (cleaned up a little) for those who haven't seen them.

PSOH Drabble Round-Up 2

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So, as I am trying to get my fest fics squared away and my other commitments covered, it seemed to be a good time for some bits of spring cleaning, including posting another batch of Pet Shop of Horrors drabbles here, for reference. It's been a while since the last time I posted some of these, I think; a set of HP drabbles will probably be coming soon.

Ratings vary from G to R, though there's nothing particularly nasty/explicit/disturbing here. You can take it as read that all the drabbles feature Count D/Leon and are slash-friendly. The drabbles themselves are individually labeled as to specific content.

Enjoy!

A Sequel and a Pet Shop of Horrors Pimp

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
A sequel to Backwards and in High Heels is up: What to Expect When Your Husband's Expecting. Again, this involves a bit of a twist on mpreg... but that would be obvious from the title, wouldn't it?

I also want to draw the attention of all my PSoH flist to the debut of a new author in the ship: [info]drachenmina! Some of you who are also HP fans know that she writes wonderful Snape-centric drabbles and stories, but I have corrupted her into the PSoH fandom and she's doing swimmingly with it. (Hooray! We're a small fandom; we need all the quality writers we can get!)

She's just posted her first full-length PSoH story: To Explain by Example. It's Leon/D, set post-Volume 10, and it's lovely! I may be biased because I beta'd it (*g*), but it's honestly a lovely piece of writing: clever, hot and sweet, featuring plenty of stubborn, embarrassingly blunt Leon and disciplined, cautious D. She gets that Leon is all Heart and D is all Head, and the interplay between the two of them is perfect. Go read it and leave her some feedback!

In other news, I have been wheedled into dressing up as the Easter Bunny at a charity event. ~sighs~ At least nobody will be able to see that it's me...

Birthday Ficlet: A Tale of Three Toasts (PSoH, Leon/D, PG-13)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Happy Birthday, [info]jeweleyes! In your honor, I present a teeny ficlet featuring Leon and D. Hope you enjoy, even though today is still icy and freezing.

(I'll be posting more in just a bit, with some kiddie pic spam from my godchildren's birthday party. I just need to upload the photos and sort out which to post. I've been meaning to do this since saturday, but haven't had time. Why is it that time off leaves me with less internet time instead of more?)

In any case: please enjoy the story.

Title: A Tale of Three Toasts
Rating: PG-13
Pairing/Fandom: D/Leon, Pet Shop of Horrors
Notes: A teenyfic for [info]jeweleyes’s birthday, inspired by her username.

FIC: Wanderlust (HP/PSoH crossover, PG-13)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
A few months ago, [info]lithiumdelusion posted a wonderful little crossover ficlet for me called "Let Them Eat Cake", which featured D, Leon, and most especially Jill and Severus Snape. There aren't many crossovers between HP and PSoH, and I thought it just begged for a sequel. She asked if I wanted to collaborate on one. Sure enough, I did, the project was titled Wanderlust, and we recently posted the third chapter of it on LJ. In so doing, it occurred to me that I'd never got around to posting it here on IJ. I'm rectifying that now.

You need not be familiar with PSoH to read this; hopefully, that's explained well enough to be understandable to non-PSoH fans.

Enjoy!

Title: Wanderlust
Authors: [info]lithiumdelusion and [info]bluestocking79
Rating: PG-13, so far.
Characters/Pairings: Leon/D, Jill, Snape, McGonagall
Summary: Leon's finally found what he was looking for, but a chance encounter with a mysterious stranger has Jill starting on a quest of her own.
Disclaimer: Not ours. We just wish they were.
Notes: A collaborative sequel to "Let Them Eat Cake," by [info]lithiumdelusion (now reproduced here as the prologue). Also, set post-DH (for HP) and post-Volume 10 (for PSoH).

The beginning, in which Jill has an unhappy birthday, Snape has an encounter with an unwelcome memory and Count D has an unexpected visitor for tea )

I'm a Very Lucky Girl

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
The thoughtful and talented [info]lithiumdelusion has given me the present of fantastic fic! In response to my wish list entry for a Petshop of Horrors story featuring Leon, D and their offspring, she wrote Making Peace! It's sweet, tender and hopeful, and as I told her, it warmed me like a cup of hot cocoa on a cold, snowy day. For an encore, she wrote an HP drabble for me, featuring Snuna! It's a beautiful little glimpse of Severus' anxiety and Luna's way of calming his fears--and all from a person who doesn't even usually write in that fandom! Well done, dear.

Go check both of these treasures out (they're in the same post) and tell [info]lithiumdelusion how much you've enjoyed them!

As predicted, I am very much snowed in. It was just starting to get going when I went to bed last night, but I woke up to a blizzard. It finally petered out in the afternoon, but most everything is preemptively closed for tomorrow at the very least, so that everybody can dig themselves out. It's all good, though; one of my neighbors was kind enough to shovel the walk, and I spent the day writing special drabbles to put in my fandom Christmas cards.

All in all: not bad. Tomorrow: baking commences.

Crossover Craziness

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I don't know if it's just because I finally finished off "To Make the Heart Grow Fonder," or my wicked coffee consumption, or what it is, but in terms of writing, I am in a really, really good space right now. I've got a good idea ofwhere I want the fic to go and bits of dialogue are coming to me all the time. I can sit down and write and write and write, and what's more, I'm actually happy with what I've written, instead of feeling like pitching my computer out the window. Writing my last story felt like a constant struggle, but now that it's over, I feel rejuvenated. I'm not crazy enough to think that this can last forever, but I am optimistic that this will see me through the final push on my Exchange Fic.

I've also gone crazy writing a lot of other stuff, because I can't get the ideas down fast enough. Case in point? This week's challenge for [info]snape100 is "Crossover Snape." That is, the challenge is to cross Snape with another fandom of the author's choice. My first thought? "Oh, cool, I'll do a PSoH one, and that'll be that." I don't write in any other fandoms, so I figured that I'd just do the one.

Wrong. So wrong.

I did write the PSoH crossover: Love, Hope and Dreams )

That wasn't the end, however. [info]starlightforest mentioned Dogma, and it got me thinking all sorts of semi-blasphemous things, and this three drabble set was the result: On a Mission from God )

But that's not all! By this time I'd caught crossover fever, and since other people were writing crossovers with House, I decided I'd try my hand at that one, too. The result? Another three-drabble set: Kindred Spirits )

Craziest of all, I've still got a ton of ideas for House and Snape, and I think a real, full-length crossover fic is inevitable. I need another writing project like a hole in my head, but I think my creative side has other ideas.

Now I know how Pandora felt after she opened that box...

Why Can't It Always Be Like This?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I don't know how I've managed it, but I've had an exceptionally prolific weekend.

I did a ton of reading, and wrote loads. I completed an angsty new chunk of "Wanderlust", nearly finished off my [info]snape_after_dh contribution, made headway on my SS/HG Exchange fic, and fired off two drabbles: a Snuna one for [info]snape100 (Solace) and a D/Leon one for [info]psohdrabble (Armistice). I even got some real-life writing done, of the dry, academic sort.

All this, and I still had time to watch my Spartans spank Notre Dame. Ah, good stuff. Touchdown Jesus wept...

I'm crossing my fingers that the productive trend continues, and I can finish off the [info]snape_after_dh fic tomorrow. About time, isn't it?

Birthday Drabble: Homecoming

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Happy birthday, [info]sydpad! I don't know if you'll get this timely, since I know your internet access is limited just lately, but to honor the occasion, I have written you a birthday drabble, featuring Snape and a certain character who shall remain nameless. Let's just say that you keep hoping to see these two crazy kids getting together, hmm? :D

Of course, everybody else is free to read and enjoy as well, but I just had to offer Syd a small compensation for all the great things she offers to the fandom: wit, insight, sanity, lovely art, and mad Mod skillz on Tea at Spinner's End. Happy birthday, and I hope you enjoy your little present!

Homecoming )

This past week has been insanely, unbelievably hectic for me, and I've hardly had enough time to remember to eat, let alone post or write much of anything. Today is the first day I've had to decompress, so I'm catching up on everything I've missed. However, I wasn't completely idled--I've come up with some fabulous stuff for my SS/HG Exchange fic, and I wrote two drabbles.

The first is for [info]snape100, and features Snape, Hermione and a VW bus (inspired by this image). Check it out: It's Not the Destination, It's the Journey.

The second drabble is for [info]psohdrabble, and was written for the prompt 'Ceremony'. It is possibly the fluffiest thing I have ever written, although I hope it steers well clear of schmoop. It was actually a bit cathartic to write something unapologetically happy after the week I've had! It features Leon and D many years from now, and you can check that one out too, if you're so inclined: Worth the Trouble.

And now I am off to try and (finally) finish off my [info]snape_after_dh story...

FICLET: Only Human (PSoH, D/Leon, R/NC-17)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
A warning: those of you with delicate sensibilities might want to avert your eyes now.

Ahem.

As many of you may know, today marks the Bring Back the Porn challenge, here on IJ ([info]bbtp_challenge). The challenge inspired me to compose my own little bit of smut, perhaps just to prove to myself that I could. It's a ficlet for Pet Shop of Horrors, and a companion piece to a drabble that I wrote for [info]psohdrabble earlier this week, called To Soothe the Savage Beast. It's also dedicated to [info]lithiumdelusion, who was both thoughtful and awesome enough to write me a ficlet featuring not only D, Leon and Jill, but Severus Snape as well. This is for you, dear, and I hope it helps you feel just a little bit less sick.

Warning: contains slash, or as slashy as D/Leon can be.

The Answer to 25 Down is A-L-A-N-R-I-C-K-M-A-N

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
'Alan Rickman' was an answer in my crossword puzzle this morning. Really, I'm not making this up! The clue was "Hans Gruber in Die Hard." It gave me a good laugh to fill that one in...

[info]araheniel posted an adorable picture of her cat, Sebastian, the other day, and we got to talking about cats, and that led to discussion of my cat, Othello. I actually have two now, but Othello was my first cat, and I guess he has a special place in my heart. She asked if I had any photos of him on my LJ. I didn't, but I decided to rectify that, while I temporarily indulge my well-hidden softer side.

So, for those who are curious, here is pic spam of my cat. If this sort of thing sickens you, avoid the link or avert your eyes. For everybody else, click away. Shameless Pic Spam )

The Snape/Harry gen story is more or less done; I'm just putting on the last-minute touches. I'll probably post that one tomorrow or Friday, so be on the lookout.

And finally, because it just wouldn't be a normal post for me without a new drabble to report, I give you: Long Distance, which was written for the weekly challenge at Pet Shop of Horrors Drabbles. Take care, though: if you're even remotely thinking about reading the manga series, this drabble has some very major spoilers. If you don't care about spoilers, then by all means, do check it out!

Birthday Drabble: No Accounting for Taste

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I need to look into Drabble-holics Anonymous, I fear. Because yes, here I am, posting another one.

This one is Pet Shop of Horrors, and it's a birthday present for Lithiumdelusion, whose birthday was yesterday. (How is it that I know so many Leos, seriously?) I said that it would take a day, but the fact is that this one sprang almost fully-formed into my brain, so I decided to go ahead and post it.

Without further ado: No Accounting for Taste )

Happy Birthday, Lithiumdelusion! I hope you enjoyed your little present.

Another Drabble and Shaggability Meme

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Right, all right, everybody's doing it, so why shouldn't I? Here's my attempt at the Shaggability Meme, taken from [info]duniazade:Click Here for Shaggable Men. )

In non-hormonal news, I wrote another drabble, this time for Pet Shop of Horrors Drabbles. I am considering the possibility that I have become addicted to writing drabbles.

I'm rather happy with this one, which you can read here. I know that most of you may want to give it a miss because you're not in the PSoH fandom, and may never have heard of it, but it's there all the same. (Besides, if you've never tried PSoH, you really, really should. The manga series is addictive like CRACK; the main characters are incredibly rich and the series itself is completely charming. Just read it; you won't be disappointed!)
